“Real love is a verb”

Upon hearing this line on Niki’s Paths for the first time, I was puzzled because “real” is an adjective that describes the noun “love,” and if they are combined, they still form a noun phrase, so how could it be a verb?

But I have come to realize that this line has a profound meaning and reveals a deeper truth about love. While adjectives and nouns describe or name, verbs signify action. By saying that real love is a verb, Niki emphasizes that true love is manifested through actions rather than just words.

“Niki is one of your favorite artists, right? I listened to her new album and it was good.”

“I saw a book in your shelf that you haven’t read yet, so I read it and annotated it for you.”

These actions go beyond mere declarations; they show love through tangible gestures.

Love takes place in many forms but real love is when you express it through words and prove it through actions. It’s not just about how they made you feel things but to show you what they can do for you so you can see that they really love you.

“I know you are stressed with your studies so I bought you an ice cream to lessen your stress.”

“I miss you so bad. Can I go there to see you?”

These actions convey a deep sense of being seen, valued, and reassured. They go beyond mere affection and reflect a commitment to making you feel cherished. It’s when they treat you right as if you’re more precious compared to any minerals or elements in this world.

“I went to a store today and there was a section that is full of pink and I immediately think of you.”

Real love is also about remembering and valuing the little things about you.

Such gestures demonstrate attentiveness and thoughtfulness, turning affection into action. While words of affirmation are flattering, combining them with acts of service creates a fuller expression of love.

I, respectfully believe that for love to be real is that it should not only be heard but can also be seen and felt.

Verb is an action word, and real love is a verb that must expressed not only through words but also through acts that demonstrate care and consideration.

It’s about showing, not just saying.

I get it now, NIKI.
